Unlock Huawei Mate 20
In this article we will be talking about the device and how to unlock Huawei Mate 20.
The Mate range has also stood out for being the one who launches the new Huawei own processors. This year he plays the Kirin 980 and with it they have tried to duplicate their efforts in artificial intelligence. We will see in detail to what extent the new chipset improves what we already had, what we are offered with respect to other flagships and what sensations this new Mate 20 has transmitted to us.
In the same way that in the Huawei P usually try new technologies and change strategy, in the Mate range is back to bet on a few forms and a similar design to last year. The Huawei Mate 20 is a mobile phone with a generous 6.53-inch screen, but the compaction work is excellent. The upper and lower frames have been reduced considerably and the jump with respect to Mate 10 is enormous.
The Huawei Mate 20 draws attention by its screen. We have a triple camera and its performance is enviable, but the 6.53-inch FullHD + RGBW LCD panel with 18.7: 9 ratio and HDR support is not in the background. It does not reach the quality of the Pro model but still the experience is very good.
With a resolution of 2.244 x 1080 pixels the density that we have is 382ppp. The sharpness that we have is not the best we have seen on a smartphone, but it is normal considering the large size of the panel. Still navigating through the Mate 20 is very nice and the elements are perfectly displayed. Except on Netflix, where despite having the Widewine L1 the videos are shown how much in HD resolution.
We do not have the contrast of OLED panels and that is noticeable mainly in blacks, which do not have the desired depth. On the contrary, the brightness is very good and we have not had problems in using it in broad daylight. Without checking the data of 820 maximum nits, we can say that it has fulfilled with ease in our tests. But in addition to the maximum brightness, the automatic has also been adjusted in each situation and where in many devices we configured it manually, in Mate 20 we have almost always opted to let it act alone.
The new Huawei Mate 20 releases the Kirin 980 processor, a proprietary chipset that this year makes the leap to seven nanometers. The Kirin 980 has two Cortex A76 cores at 2.6GHz, another two cores at 1.92GHz and another four A55 at 1.8Ghz. This architecture allows the two cores to be activated only when the power is required and the secondaries are usually those that adapt to each task. The result is an improvement in performance and efficiency with respect to the Kirin 970 that we already have in a large part of the brand's catalog.
Accompanying the processor we have 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. It is not a very high amount, but we have not noticed large slowdowns despite having many applications open in the background. If reducing the amount of RAM helps to lower the price over the next few months then it will be fine.
Regarding the temperatures we are also happy. The Mate 20 manages to stay almost always below 40º C, even when we are playing. Yes we notice some heat when we are loading it quickly or we have been playing for a while, but in general it dissipates the heat very well and it has been a pleasant surprise at this point.
For storage we have theoretical 128GB, of which we have 107.98GB available. Slightly less than what we used to have with EMUI 8.0 but enough for most users. In the case of the standard model we do not have versions with more storage.
The Mate range of Huawei is also responsible for brand new software version. With the Mate 20 we have been able to test EMUI 9.0 for the first time, the latest modification of its customization layer that also comes with Android 9 Pie. It is not a minor detail, as these Mate 20 are the first mobile phones with a very different software than pure Android that are updated to the latest version.
In this section there will always be users who prefer a layer of personalization such as EMUI, with dozens of options and others who bet on something cleaner and similar to the Google experience. We will explain what EMUI offers and what are the innovations of the ninth version that comes in the Mate 20. We already anticipate that we are facing a continuous update and in general the experience of EMUI 9.0 is similar to the one we had before. More info on the Huawei official web page.
